Of all the necessities, and luxuries, in life, clean drinking water might be the absolute best! When you're drinking pure, healthy drinking water, you know you're taking care of your body. Nothing quite tastes as good, either! But the big question is, how are you going to make sure what you drink is clean and pure? Well, let's find out!
I'm sorry to say that clean, pure, healthy drinking water is not coming out of your faucet at home...or anywhere else, for that matter. I'm sure you've heard, but our municipal treatment systems are inadequate for the breadth and type of today's pollutants. These pollutants range from pesticides to prescription drugs. Not only that, but according to where your water comes from, you potentially have billions of microorganisms still in your water, which were able to make it through the treatment plant and survive chlorination.

Bottled water is not necessarily any better! The quality of bottled water varies all over the place. Some of it is much worse for you than tap water, and some is significantly better. It's actually easier to know if your municipal water is contaminated than the bottled water you might be drinking. Municipal water systems are required by law to test their water every so often and make the results of those test available to the public. I know of no such restrictions covering bottled water. What's potentially worse is that 50% to 70% of bottled water is not covered by any federal restrictions whatsoever, because it's not transported across state lines. Only state regulations would cover these waters.
So, how are you going to get clean drinking water? Well, the only way I know how is to filter it yourself!
There are a number of different water filters out there, distillers, reverse osmosis systems, ultraviolet light sterilizers, and carbon and ceramic filtering systems. All have their pluses and minuses. Distillers, for instance , leave water tasting flat. They are also sometimes not recommended for chlorinated water. Reverse osmosis systems can leave water flat tasting, also. In addition, they remove the trace minerals like potassium. UV works well, if there are no inorganic contaminants. Finally, carbon and ceramic filters are probably your best overall bet.
In other words, if you want to insure you and your family have clean drinking water, you're just going to have to filter the water yourself, right as it comes out of the tap. To do this, you can buy a water pitcher filter, a filter for one faucet, or a whole house filter.
